Just Read Org

The Just Read Org was established depending on four of four percons only one month after the fall of the former regime to reform a new society urges for its rights and carries the responsibility of creating Democratic Government believes in multiplicity and civil society role.
Our Org had many objectives, the most important ones are to raise the cultural and scientific level to our members through studying and learn more about international human rights resolutions which the former regime tried to escape from.
We started by the support of OTI (office of transition initiative) by distributing the 7th of July announcement about electricity scheduling in Baghdad, then we began collecting citizens opinions about the most important problems they are facing and send these lists of problems to the Transitional Governing Council and some of them to the ministries which are in charge like the ministry of health.
Then we've signed the first grant with OTI to publish and distribute 15000 copies of the International Announcement for Human Rights in spite of the lack of security during that time, we were so excitant and full of hope while doing this, then more members (male and female) began to join us and work voluntarily until we became thirty, our activities grow day by day and our ideas were modified so we organize a poetry festival at the college of fine art and organizing training courses for computer skills for the employees at Al-Karck hospital, and became partners with local NGOs like CVAS.
We submit a proposal of publishing a book titled "What is Democracy" and we planed to distribute it among the students during a painting festival at the college of arts, another book were published titled" Democracy Papers" which were distributed among the audience during conferences held by the organizations, many of these books were distributed in the colleges, institutes and political parties offices.
The Org with cooperation of CVAS had organized a round table discussions about the items included into these two books.
The Org with cooperation of NDI succeeded to publish and distribute a book showing how the NGOs work, this one was distributed among the NGOs and the students who will be the base of building civil society.
As youth member, we carry the responsibility of organizing Iraqi Youth Conference by the support of RTI on March 2004; this conference aims to reactive the role of Iraqi youth people and creates new generations of leaderships.
Continuing our activities with students, we started our new project with students by encouraging them voting for their needs in democracy way, during our meetings with students we were focusing on some issues like how to build new society, the way how the NOGs work, how to establish an NGO and the role of students in rebuilding our society.
We are still going on
We still have a huge hope in trying to make changes, we derive our power from our citizens because we are a part of the Iraqi society, and there are many projects in our minds and hope to have a chance to make them true.
